Spotted Jewelweed — Impatiens capensis
Spotted jewelweed is a native wildflower often found in moist, shaded places such as stream edges, wetlands, and damp woodland margins.
Its bright orange flowers are marked with reddish spots and hang from slender stems, giving the plant its delicate, almost lantern-like appearance.
The seed pods are touch-sensitive and burst open when ripe, scattering their seeds — a trait that gives the genus Impatiens its name.
