Beach Plum — Prunus maritima
Beach plum is a low-growing shrub in the rose family, known for its white spring flowers and small, round fruits that ripen from red to deep purple.
It grows naturally in sandy coastal habitats, especially dunes and shorelines, where it is well adapted to wind, salt spray, and poor soils.
The fruits are edible and have traditionally been used in preserves, jams, and jellies.
