Blood Star — Henricia sanguinolenta
The blood star is a small sea star found in cold North Atlantic waters, including the coast of Atlantic Canada.
Its colour can range from deep red and orange to pink or purple, and its slender arms give it a softer, more delicate appearance than many other sea stars.
Blood stars are often found on rocky seafloors, where they feed on sponges, small organisms, and organic material carried through the water.
