FIELD GUIDE NOTES
Peach — Prunus persica
Peaches grow on small deciduous trees in the rose family and are known for their soft, fuzzy skin and sweet, juicy flesh.
In spring, peach trees produce pink flowers before the leaves fully emerge. The fruit develops through the warmer months and ripens in summer.
Peaches are stone fruits, or drupes, meaning each fruit contains a single hard pit surrounded by fleshy fruit.
