Bay Scallop — Argopecten irradians
Bay scallops are small marine bivalves with fan-shaped shells marked by strong radiating ribs.
They live in shallow coastal waters, often among eelgrass beds, where they filter tiny particles and plankton from the water.
Unlike many other shellfish, scallops can swim short distances by rapidly opening and closing their shells, pushing themselves through the water.
