Moon Jelly — Aurelia aurita
Moon jellies are translucent jellyfish named for the pale, moon-like appearance of their bell and the four visible, horseshoe-shaped reproductive organs near the centre.
They drift with ocean currents and feed mainly on tiny plankton and other small organisms captured by mucus and fine structures along the bell and oral arms.
Moon jellies are found in coastal waters throughout much of the world, including Atlantic Canada, and are often seen in sheltered bays and harbours.
